Professional Practice - I
Professional Practice - I (PP – I) offered to the students of B.Tech. program is conducted for a duration of eight weeks during the summer following the second year second semester. Professional Practice-I is a combination of exposure oriented and generic problem solving type programme which is graded for 5 credits.
Aim of Professional Practice-I is to provide students a comprehensive acquaintance to the professional workplace and also to:
- Learn about organization’s products, processes, structure and function
- Develop the behavioural and communication related traits & skills
- Solve short term predefined problems
Orientation comprising of plant visits, and interactions with industry experts is conducted for initial few days. Orientation is followed by taking up an open ended short-term predefined project or study type assignment that provides experiential learning. It involves data collection, analysis, idea generation and reporting etc. Evaluation components such as quiz, group discussion, seminar, diary and report supports and augment the learning process.
Entire process is coordinated, monitored and evaluated by the professional practice faculty on day-to-day basis in consultation with the concerned industry experts and the professional practice division of the university.
PP-I is conducted once in a year during the month of May – July every year, for a period of 8 weeks. Eligible students from all the branches of the school of engineering go for PP-I during summer at the end of their second year. During summer of 2017, PP-I programme was implemented with 310 students in 52 organisations. Fifty two faculty members supervised the PP-I programme
